CTV News is part of Columbia University Television, the second oldest student-run television station in the nation. CTV News has been with the station since it began in the 1970s. Then, the news department produced a daily live news update, a magazine program entitled Westside, and periodic documentaries. An alumnus tells us that programs in the 70s were edited from half-inch reels to three-quarter-inch black and white tape.

In the mid-90s, the "CTV 30 Minute News Show" provided a "week in review [with] reports on pressing national, international and local issues." The news department also included "1800 Seconds", a newsmagazine focused on campus news.

Today, CTV News continues in the tradition of its predecessors, reporting on topics that affect the lives of students at Columbia University. The flagship CTV News broadcast airs live every Sunday at 7pm and our latest reporting is always available at www.ctvnewsonline.com.
