Homecoming is about more than just football - tailgating is highlight of the festivities as well as celebrating a sense of Columbia Pride.

On Saturday, the Columbia Lions matched up against the Penn Quakers. The match-up was the most publicized event scheduled to take place during homecoming week.

Game day for CU football fans begins with shuttle buses that transport spectators to and from home games. Saturday, however, passenger fandom seemed to be at an all time high. 45-106.

Columbia football games are not known for giving away free merchandise, aside from the occasional key chain or water bottle, but Saturday was a sight to behold. A promotional food fair was stationed outside Kraft field to give spectators an unlimited amount of Honest Tea, energy drinks, trail mix, Terra chips, and more. Aside from the free merchandise that was distributed at the game,

Home coming t-shirts were sold for five dollars at the stadium entrance. And the slogan? We eat Quakers like you for breakfast. At the Northwest side of the stadium was an alumni banquet, an arcade space for the young at heart, and two moon walks.

The Lions couldn't have had more support, as the stands were filled with spectators. Although the Lions were not victorious against the Quakers, school spirit at the homecoming game was not lacking. And, in lieu of recent biased incidents taking place on Columbia's campus, Homecoming football could not have come at a better time.
